Wyrd

Wyrd is my novel-in-progress. Omigosh, I can’t believe I’m one of those people who posts her novel on her website. I hope this isn’t too embarrassing.

It’s password protected, in an extremely weak attempt to protect copyright. If you ask, I’ll give you the password. It’s stupidly simple – if you guess it, I won’t have to give you the password. :)

UPDATE [11/3/09]: I’m being a NaNoWriMo rebel. I’m not counting any of my previous words, but I’m continuing on with this story in a probably-futile attempt to write 50,000 more words on it in thirty days. As soon as some of the widgets start working, I’ll try to add one to the page so that you can follow my progress.

Everything from chapter 16 on was written during NaNoWriMo. There’s also a glossary in the works, to help keep track of all these people and places and abilities, but it’s not accessible just yet. Gotta finish it first. So if you’re counting my words and coming up with a discrepancy, that’s why…

Genre-wise, it’s one of those annoying books that falls somewhere between fantasy and science fiction. (So far, it’s more in the fantasy realm, but if things move on the way I plan, it’ll balance out before the end. And yes, that means that I’m not entirely certain where these characters are going to take me.) It has notes of Narnia in it, and is an extended chapter of an internal story I dreamed up way back in middle school. Also, I break the fourth wall a lot, which amuses me, but probably no one else. :)

If you read – and I hope you do – please drop me a comment and let me know. I’d like to know what you think, whether I’m sucking, whether I’m not sucking. I’d like to know what questions you have, or what ideas you have about what’s going on. I’d love to just know if you’re reading.
